A story on the internet tells how, during the war, an American bomber was flying on a bombing raid over the Italian town of San Giannovi when, to his astonishment, the pilot saw a priest in a brown habit hovering in front of the ‘plane. At the same time the bombing mechanism jammed so that the bomb aimer couldn’t drop his deadly cargo.

Some time later the pilot visited the little church in San Giovanni and immediately recognised the parish priest as the one he had seen from his bomber.

Back on earth in our church of St. Frances of Rome we have a group dedicated to the priest, now St Pio of San Giovanni Pietrelcina, that meets regularly in the annexe and says the rosary in the church.
