The Secular Carmelites are part of the Discalced Carmelite order of Friars & Nuns.

Our Hereford Group meet at the Poor Clares convent Much Birch on the second Saturday alternate months.

Prayer and community is the source of our life through which we deepen our relationship with God and find his presence in our daily lives.

Our day includes Morning & Evening prayer, silent Meditation, Mass and the study of our Carmelite saints. Including St. Teresa of Avila, St John of the Cross and St.Therese who are all Doctors of the Church.

The Carmelite order grew from a community of Hermits on Mount Carmel in the 13th century.

St.Teresa with the help of St. John reformed the Order in the 16th century. The new branch became known as the Discalced Carmelites.
